Birthday stash...

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI wanted to show you my Birthday stash that I got as I am so delighted with it. The picture above shows a design I have wanted since it came out in Febrauary. It is the Designing Ladies 2006 Sewing Necessaire and my favourite one of them this is by Guilia Punti Antichi ('GPA'for short). I had couldn't believe it when I opened this as not only did I get the chart I also got all of the special silk threads and the called for linen fabric to do this design with!!! I was stunned to say the least but it did not stop there...this picture next shows the Hillside Samplings one that I had fell in love with...you guessed...I am now the proud owner of this kit including the handpainted box as well!!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingNext is a book I had admired for its realistic looking flowers...it really is very beautiful and I like flowers so much :-)

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingStill my surprises kept happening as if this was not enough I also received these 5 new charts you can see. They were picked by my sister Su for me and are...Flowers From the Heart Needlebook, A Sentimental Thimble Case both by Cherished Stitches, Peek-a-Boo-Pin Cushion by Indigo Rose and then...two designs by Finger Work which are Shaker Box Pin Cushion with the threads and Mary's Pin Accessories!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingAs you will imagine I am over the moon with all my gifts and thank my family so much for all the spoiling they have done for me in making my day so special:-))) This picture below shows my Birthday Cake...I just loved it... the candle played Happy Birthday and the cake tasted really yummy!! Ooops sorry can't find the cake one in my photos mmmmm where has that gone I wonder??
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingAs you can see I have changed my blog today and made it alot plainer for a change...it still looks a bit wierd to me. I'm getting myself geared up for the end of the summer as the sun has not shone here for a little while now but I am not quite ready to give up on it yet...lol...we might be in for a nice September before Autumn kicks in...here's hoping :-)) Next time I will show what I stitched and knitted (yes knitted) when on my holidays and if I can find the cake pic I'll show that!!

Stitchy gifts...

Wow...I have had such a nice birthday and feel very lucky and most definately spoilt. Firstly thank-you all for the kind birthday wishes...I had a wonderful day full of surprises with all my close family turning up from all over the country when they had all arrived we all went out for a lovely meal that they had booked(another surprise). I even had a cake with a candle that played Happy Birthday then everybody came back to my house for a good old chat! It was so good to see Su and Mark fresh back from their holiday and they brought me the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers as an extra surprise I unfortunately do not have a pic of them with everything that went on that day and leaving for my holidays the next morning..but trust me they were lovely and went away with me :-))

I had some truly lovely gifts amongst them of course were the stitchy type!! The top picture is of a set that my Mum made me. It consists of a box that my Dad painted then Mum lined it with a pretty green floral fabric, in the box lid is a cross stitched design which she used silk threads then inside were more treasures...Mum had made me her first tape measure and her first tiny plant pot pin cushion only 1" (2.5cm) high...it is really so sweet. I have a needlecase which inside houses a small silver thimble and of course some needles, to finish the stitchers set I have got a tiny pair of gold scissors with their own very tiny fob and weeny buttons to finish it. As they were so small and pointy my Mum made them a special little case with the same fabric lining the box and weeny buttons to match the fob.

Another total surprise was when I got back from my holiday I had a little padded envelope waiting for me that had arrived whilst I was away. On opening it I found the most lovely hanging ornie that was from Annemarie for my birthday. This is such a lovely surprise gift and my 1st stitchy gift from somebody other than a family member. Annemarie has stitched it so neatly and her edging stitch is fantastic I don't even know how she has done it but it sure looks good. On this 1st picture it shows the wreath and heart with both our initials and the year the heart has little backstitches running across each xstitched row if you can make it out.

This other picture of Annemaries gift to me shows the other side of the ornie which again has so much detail to it including some great french knots and the little face is very neat 1/1 crosses and she even has her blusher on...girl after my own heart...lol!! The cording is superb and all handmade and finished with a small button on each side positioned so it does not matter which way the ornie is facing...very clever!! By the way Annemarie I had those same stripey tights she is wearing when I was a punk (just a couple of years ago ;-) Seriously I am so delighted with this gift and want to thank-you so much again for being so kind...made my day you did :-))

I also got some nice new stash for my birthday but that will have to wait for next time for me to show you along with my cake picture and my holiday :-))

Back soon have a good week everybody!!

Birthday Mailart...

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI had super mail this morning ... my Mum has sent me this beautiful mailart envelope with an early birthday card (she likes my birthday to last a week). I had absolutely no idea it was on its way ,  her and my Dad are away at Su's looking after her cat Tasha while they are on holiday ,  talk about being taken by surprise LOL.

This picture below shows the front and the tiny weeny pin holder to go with it.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe next picture shows the reverse with the French writing across the back and the mother of pearl buttons my Mum has put onit. It has not come out the right colour for the linen on my pictures but the whole thing actually looks quite antique in real life and I can't seem to capture that which is a pity,  I need to practice getting good at pictures !!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingWhen the buttons are undone this next picture shows the fabric it is lined with and the lace bows. I really love it especially since it is the first mailart my Mum has done. The tiny pin holder is all stitched 1 over 1 ( as my Mum knows how much I love tiny xxx's) with tiny scissors and 3 tiny reels of cotton, a miniture quilt and ABC on the reverse side.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingInside were more surprises as it has the pin holder a beautiful birthday card a small credit card size card with a lovely verse about daughters and a silver heart ornie with 'best wishes' embroidered onit and a tiny red button at the bottom of the heart which is shown below as I wanted to show that as well. Thank-you so much from my blog Mum (even though you are not online to read it )  I LOVE it all as I have told you :)  and feel very spoilt...it brought a tear to my eye :-)))

Rose Bourse

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI have finished my bourse and I just love it...this was a very interesting little project to do. This picture below shows it flat. I changed the fabric from the original to go with my things and I also wanted to use my own abalone shell buttons.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThis next picture shows the bourse with the drawstrings slightly pulled and the pincushion in the middle. The main part of the cross stitch was done 1 strand over 2 and it was all stitched on 32ct linen. I have done the whole of the finishing for this by hand as I am away this week and do not have my machine with me...but guess what I loved putting it together although it was rather slower by me than the machine would have been...lol

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingHere is a close up of the pincushion that in the centre. This is stitched 1 over 1 and has tiny ribbon bows made from silk which I think make it look really pretty.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingMy last picture shows the bourse full of some of my stitching things...it is surprising what you could fit into one of these as it is actually quite small and dainty. The wording roughly translated into English is 'With my needle the roses flower in my garden' I actually liked the French wording very much so did not want to change it. This is from the French designer Au Fil des Reves (not the page I wanted but you can find more from there) who has done many beautiful designs...go take a look! I have a few in my stash now that I have been collecting and after this I look forward to doing them :-))

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingHave a good week stitching I'm starting my next project now...back soon!!
